Ethiopian higher education uses a four-point grading scale, but the way that scale maps to a degree classification is specific to the country’s universities. A cumulative GPA determines whether a graduate leaves with a First Class Honours, Second Class Upper or Lower, or a Pass, and the thresholds are not the same ones used in the United States or Europe.
